Electroless deposition of nickel-phosphorus alloy (Ni-P) coatings is very popular in many industrial applications due to its unique properties such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, non-magnetism, improved micro-hardness and coating thickness uniformity.

Due to its amorphous character and passivity, the corrosion resistance of these coatings, especially of high-P EN, is excellent and in many environments even better than that of pure nickel or chromium alloys.

Global regulations have restricted the use of heavy metals as stabilizers and brighteners in electroless nickel processes, so today's new generation of high-P EN processes use metal-free or toxic heavy metal-free stabilizers.
